14valentines: a recipe

I fell down a bit on my goal to post something every day for [info]14valentines, but I met a deadline, so it balances out, I think. Until I have some fic ready I’ll be posting my favorite chocolate-based recipes.

Afton’s chocolate sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. baking chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 12-ounce can of evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and the butter until they’re smooth, then stir in the the sugars. When they’re all dissolved stir in the evaporated milk. When it’s all incorporated remove from heat, add a teaspoon of vanilla, and serve over whatever you like with chocolate: vanilla ice cream, cream puffs, brownie cake, green grapes, shortbread, etc.

14 Valentines: 24 Valentine’s Day icons

For the past two years, [info]14valentines has been a celebration of women, our strengths and our issues. Every day from February 1st to the 14th will have a theme, and participants post fic, icons, essays, etc., to raise awareness and show support.
